DataVita has announced a strategic partnership with Glasgow City Council to transform and maintain the digital infrastructure and provide the city’s core compute and storage services that support essential public services across the city. The initial contract is valued at £44.9 million and spans five years and nine months. This project ensures that the Council possesses a resilient and modern digital backbone for its essential operations.
The contract includes extension options and, should it run for its maximum permitted duration of over 10 years, the total projected value is estimated at between £80 million and £110 million.
Under the initial term, which commenced on 8 October 2025, DataVita is delivering a comprehensive range of services from its Tier-III certified data centres in Scotland. These services support the Council’s IT infrastructure, supporting more than 400 applications essential to the delivery of daily public services. The technical scope includes the provision of primary and disaster recovery environments, the management of physical and virtual servers, and the delivery of scalable storage. To ensure maximum data protection, the solution features robust backup systems with immutable copies.
The partnership also delivers significant social and economic benefits. Up to 25 new roles will be created as a result of this contract. This also includes several apprenticeships, reflecting DataVita’s commitment to growing the Scottish technology ecosystem and creating high-value jobs.

As Glasgow transitions to a multi-source IT delivery model, DataVita will integrate with the Council's Service Integration and Management (SIAM) function. This ensures collaborative service delivery alongside other strategic partners.
